Water

We all know how essential water is to life. Yet, few are aware that water pollution is probably the most severe ecological threat we face today. The quality of water in our lakes, rivers and oceans is being degraded by a vast range of water contaminants, often toxic substances, that are dissolving in them and that are left either suspended in the water or deposited on the bed.

According to the WWF, “Water pollution can be caused in a number of ways, one of the most polluting being city sewage and industrial waste discharge. Indirect sources of water pollution include contaminants that enter the water supply from soils or groundwater systems and from the atmosphere via rain. Soils and groundwaters contain the residue of human agricultural practices and also improperly disposed of industrial wastes.”
